Language and region

If it differs from the paper's language, your free planning document is also split: the explanations come in this language, while your paper's title, research questions, hypotheses and chapter titles stay in the paper's language, word for word, so you can copy them straight into your paper.

We've pre-filled the conventional choices for your language and citation style — adjust anything you want.

The font the whole document is written in: body text, headings and the reference list. Each sample is drawn in the font itself.

The size of the body text, in points. Chapter headings are 2 points larger than the body and sub-headings 1 point larger. The sample is shown at actual size.

The space between lines of body text. Unless your supervisor says otherwise, one-and-a-half or double spacing is the usual choice.

How your body text will look with these choices

The research literature points to a link between the use of AI tools and academic self-efficacy among students. These studies focus on how often the tools are used and in which study context.

This paper examines the relationship between the variables and discusses its implications for independent learning, drawing on recent sources.

How lines are arranged in the body text. Justified gives straight edges on both sides and is the usual choice in academic work.

The distance between the text and the page edge, on all four sides. The sample is a page in the proportions of the delivered document; the dashed frame is the text area.

How chapter and section titles are formatted throughout the document.

Paragraphs are told apart either by a first-line indent (1.27 cm) or by a 6-point gap between paragraphs.

Numbering starts at 1 on the abstract page (or on the first page of the body if there is no abstract), after the cover page, table of contents and lists, and continues to the end of the document, including the reference list.

The speaker script, the handout, the flashcards and the prepared Q&A are written in this language. It can differ from the language of the slides.
